Getting up

Getting up

Is essential

For health: physical and mental

Regardless of our drive

We need to rise to stay alive

The warmth

The dream

The rest

The peace

Becomes each day beyond our reach

It’s a fact of life we can’t ignore

plant both feet

Stand on the floor

Find the trick

To pull back the sheets

The nick

The nack

To get to your feet

Tea, toast, chocolate spread

Whatever needed to get out of bed

In the morning, there’s little time to spare

Not much time to straighten hair

And when you think of the list of to-dos

It’s really tempting to just hit snooze

But what would we become if we slept all day?

Our brains would rot

Muscles wither away.

We’d lose our jobs

We’d have no cash

We’d get an itchy bed sore rash

And we’d having nothing to tell our friends

No chat, no beginnings or ends

We’d communicate through our phones

And we’d run out of food and lose our homes

So, the moral is, you must get up

life’s what you make it

Not down to luck
