Living in the Moment

What is the solution

To the monkeying of the mind?

The thoughts that leap and chatter

Racing to and fro in time

It’s the churning of the Head Space

That needs to stop, to shush

It interrupts the flow, and the achieving

The delivering through the rush

The conditional tenses,

The shoulds and woulds and coulds

Gut feelings v pretences

Guilty comparisons of moods

But the rush it’s what we thrive on

As we strive to keep alive?

The promises being delivered

Fighting, ignoring our insides

The fight the flight, the systems

Of nervous energies

The remembering of the details

Those which bring us to our knees

They tell us society is imploding

That all our brains are mush

To stop: Clear our screen time

To ebb the flow of rush

Yes, The solution is simple

As simple as a knot

It’s simple but so tricky

To never lose the plot

Because our wiring sparks continually

On a treadmill set to max

Non-linear, illogically

Erratic

Travelling forward, here and back

So we must live in the moment

Breathe

Acknowledge the river of thoughts

Breathe, observe and move

Flow

Now…

Reconnect the dots

We are simply humans

Animals wired to survive

The monkey jumping in our heads

Is what keeps us striving and alive

Taming the river

Just cannot be done

But we can step aside and view it

If we move and breathe

Now…

Rejoin

And run
